About me
My name is Elisabet Luis Bravo, native of the island of Tenerife. As for my training, I have a degree in Psychology, and years later, I decided to go into and train in the field of nutrition, so I took the Higher Level Training Cycle in Dietetics and Nutrition, and I am currently training in sports nutrition.
As you well know, in these fields, constant updating is something very relevant, so during this time, I have also been able to take complementary courses in both branches, especially, an expert course in Psycho-nutrition. Now let's go a little deeper, and I will explain the approach from which I do my work:
In the past, people who have agreed to go on a diet have resigned themselves to following a nutritional plan just like everyone else, without the professional being concerned about their individual needs. Thus, many people have reported long-term organic and emotional problems, because they have had a restrictive diet, in which they have been forbidden foods, and have not been able to cover their daily nutritional needs.
Other important and highly topical cases are those people who have developed food-related problems during the Covid-19 pandemic, due to long-term confinement or situations of unemployment and Temporary Layoff Scheme, reporting episodes of anxiety, depression or body dysmorphia, among others, undoubtedly associated with poorly managed emotional eating.
Nowadays, I notice that many people continue to go to the doctor, but the emotional component is not considered, and this is very important because, in many cases, the origin of the problem lies here.
It is for this reason that my approach focuses on working on the mental part as well, thus working from a "Psycho-nutrition" approach, where two complementary figures come together, the dietician-nutritionist and the psychologist, to address the problems that the patient may present more profoundly.
Thus, among the different objectives that can be addressed in the consultation, the following stand out:
• Ensure that the patient's nutritional needs are covered with a fully personalised plan based on objectives.
• Work on concepts related to dietetics and psychology.
• Prevent emotional eating that generates discomfort, as well as possible Eating Disorders.
• Treat and offer tools for emotional management.
• Treat and offer tools for the practice of conscious eating.
• To look after the patient's well-being.
The philosophy of my work is based on the well-being of the patient as a whole, thus avoiding focusing on weight and measurements, as this can generate certain problems over time and lead to some kind of psychological disorder, and being able to observe these changes in other more important variables.
Therefore, I am committed to the patient acquiring healthy lifestyle habits, both physically and emotionally, and for these to last in the long term. Therefore, I will establish personalised nutritional plans for each patient according to their needs, leaving aside any type of restrictive diet, always enjoying every moment, the process itself, and taking into account two very important concepts for me and that I always transmit to my patients: "BALANCE" and "FLEXIBILITY".
